July 11, 2008, Newsletter Issue #123: Maintaining Carpet Floor Mats

Tip of the Week

Dirty carpeting in your car? Try these tips on protecting your floor mats from dirt and debris.

1. When you first purchase your floor mats, buy stainguards at your local auto shop

2. Cover your factory floor mats with aftermarket floor mats, treating both with the stainguard.

3. You can always use preventive measures and remove the factory floor mats and only use an aftermarket mat.

4. Don't use Armor All to repel dirt, grime or to give the floor mat a shiny look. This is very dangerous, as you may find your feet sliding across the gas pedal, clutch or brake uncontrollably.

Protecting the factory floor mats will help you when you are ready to sell the vehicle. Floor mats are one of the first things a buyer sees when they open that vehicles door.
